Your runs stay yours
TrackDyno has no account, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. We don't run servers that collect your data. The only time we receive anything is when you email us.
Summary
- TrackDyno is made by RubleCo LLC ("we"). This policy covers the TrackDyno iPhone app and this website.
- Everything the app measures is processed on your iPhone and saved there. If iCloud is on, it also syncs through your own private iCloud database, which we can't access.
- We don't sell, rent or share your data, and we don't use it for advertising.
- We only receive data when you send it to us, for example with Send to Support.
What the app uses, and why
TrackDyno asks for each permission the first time a feature needs it. You can change any of them in iOS Settings → TrackDyno.
| Permission | What it's used for |
|---|---|
| Location | Speed, distance, acceleration and lap position during runs. It keeps recording while the screen is off or another app is open, but only while a run is in progress. |
| Motion & fitness | Accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer and barometer readings for g-forces, lean angle, altitude and road grade. |
| Microphone | Estimates engine RPM from the engine's sound during runs and microphone calibration. Sound is analyzed on your iPhone as it comes in. No audio is ever recorded, stored or uploaded. Only the measured engine pitch is saved with your run. |
| Bluetooth | Connects to your OBD-II adapter to read engine RPM, speed, throttle, pedal position, gear, engine load and coolant temperature. This data goes only from the adapter to your iPhone. |
The app also stores what you enter, such as your vehicle profiles (name, weight, gearing, tire size, drag figures) and tracks you lay out, along with your settings.
Where your data is stored
On your iPhone. Runs, vehicles, tracks and settings are kept in the app's storage on your device.
In your iCloud, if you use it. When you're signed in to iCloud, TrackDyno syncs your runs, vehicles and tracks through Apple's CloudKit, in a private database that belongs to your Apple Account. Apple stores this under its own privacy policy. We can't read it, and it isn't sent to us.
What you choose to share
Some features hand data to other apps, but only when you tap them:
- Export data creates CSV files of a run and opens the iOS share sheet. The files can include the run's GPS track (latitude and longitude). Where they go is up to you.
- Share cards and track files create an image of a result or a track layout file for you to send. A track file contains the track's location.
Support emails
When you tap Run data → Send to Support…, TrackDyno creates an email to [email protected] with files attached. Nothing is sent until you send that email from your own email app. The attachments include:
- The app version, iOS version, iPhone model identifier and your TrackDyno settings, including OBD-II options, unit preferences and your phone's measured GPS delays
- The name and connection state of your OBD-II adapter, plus its diagnostic log
- The vehicle profile used for the run: name, weights, gearing, tire size, drag and calibration values
- The run's results and its full sensor data: speed, the GPS track with latitude and longitude, motion, barometer, the engine pitch measured from sound, and OBD-II readings
- The weather conditions recorded with the run
We also receive whatever your email itself contains, such as your email address and name. We use all of it only to investigate and fix your problem and to reply to you. We keep support emails only as long as we need them for that. To have your support emails deleted, write to us.
Apple services
TrackDyno has no third-party SDKs, analytics or advertising code. It uses these Apple services:
- WeatherKit gets temperature, pressure and humidity for your location, so results can be corrected for air density. Apple receives the location to answer the request. Weather data is provided by Apple Weather.
- iCloud (CloudKit) handles sync, as described above.
- The App Store handles your purchase. Apple shares only aggregate sales reports with us, never your identity or payment details.
Apple's handling of this data is covered by Apple's privacy policy.
Deleting your data
- Delete individual runs, vehicles or tracks in the app. If sync is on, they're removed from your iCloud as well.
- Deleting the app removes its data from your iPhone.
- To remove synced data from iCloud, open iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → TrackDyno.
- To have support emails you sent us deleted, contact us at the address below.
Children
TrackDyno is a tool for drivers. It isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
Changes to this policy
If the app starts handling data differently, we'll update this page and its effective date before the change ships.
